Next day we visited the Museo Egizio which was the main reason why we had come to Turin this time. Among egyptologists it is known as one of the biggest and most important Egyptian museums of the world. It had been renovated during the past few years and reopened in springtime 2015. I was travelling with a group of friends of our Munich Egyptian Museum, and we wanted to see the renewed museum of Turin.

The Tomb of Kha was excavated by an Italian team in 1906 and was found completely undisturbed in Deir-el-Medine, so a lot of highly interesting objects are in the museum today. Kha was a master-builder during the New Kingdom, time of Pharao Amenhotep III.  (Around 1350 B.C.)

The old photo below on the right side  shows the same statue how it was found in the tomb during the excavations. It had the same flower chain on as today. (Around 3400 years old!)

One of the eye-catchers in the museum is a 'view' to the Nile between the exhibition objects.

I can never pass without noticing elephants. These ones here are small figurines from the Ptolemaic Period (approx. 300 - 30  B.C.).  Already then elephants have been tamed and trained for riding.  As we are aware today, the methods of how to tame elephants are very cruel as the taming can only be done with violence in order to 'break their will'.  Please never ever ride elephants on your trips to Asia or any other destination! It is no fun for elephants at all.

The dark mirror halls with very fine statues, most of them of the New Kingdom, attracks many visitors.

On Sunday, I met Maria, my friend and colleague in Italy, together with her family (or at least part of her family) which was a great joy, as we hadn't seen us since several years. Together we took a walk in the Parco del Valentino to the Medieval village.
